Eleanor Farncombe

Eleanor Farncombe started her career on the technical side of “Theatre”, taking on an apprentice position in her gap year in the props department at the State Opera House in Karlsruhe, Germany. That same year, for the Ettlingen Summer Festival near Karlsruhe she worked as sound assistant on one show, follow spot operator on another, producer’s assistant on another and as part of the stage management team on another.
Eleanor went on to study singing at the Royal College of Music where she specialized in Early Music. She was chosen to take part in several masterclasses for young singers with Emma Kirkby and Roger Vignoles at the 1991 Edinburgh. After leaving college, she was contracted with the Opera House in Würzburg, Germany as a chorus member and then as a soloist and made guest appearances in opera houses across Germany. She sang for a couple of seasons at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth before taking up the position of General Manager of the professional touring company London Opera Players in 2000 where she had ample opportunity to put the technical skills she had learnt early on in her career into practice again. In 2004 she helped form London Opera Productions, writing and producing classical themed shows for corporate and private clients, managing the touring of full scale opera productions and organising children’s opera projects.
In 2007 she edited a rare French baroque ballet for performances at the Opera House in Leipzig, Germany.
